on second thought just have the "hole" that
your sub pops up into an isolated part of your mother ship so you could
simply pop the hatch and climb on the top of the mother ship. It would be
like a doughnut built into the mother ship which would structurally be
centered.

Frank,
What about a design where your sub surfaces underneath the mother
ship. I've been toying with the idea where my mother ship is a
large Carsten type sub except it would not have very deep diving capability,
in fact maybe no diving capability at all. It would travel
like a partially submerged sub, kind of like those drug subs (but without the
drugs) -just beer. Anyway my concept, which I will try to lay out on
paper, would be to have a permanent air space where there would be enough
room so that you could open your hatch. Rather than have a lock out
chamber, which could lead to sinking your mother ship, just make it so
that you have to swim out of the bottom air chamber to get to the mothership
upper hatch. It would only be a short swim and you could have ladder
rungs to hold on to. Once you get your sub up into the air space you
could give it a little extra positive bouyancy so that is doesn't have a
tendancy to bob around in there and cause some damage. Then once you're
out of your sub you could also secure the small sub with cables or straps
or whatever.
Just thinking ahead !
Brian
Hi Guys. Here's that little sketch I've been talking about for a future
add-on to my little sub. This is just my first sketch of the concept, and
like all our first designs, is just in the dreaming stage. Any feedback
would be greatly appreciated. Frank D.
