Hi Frank,
Gas shielded MIG is a very brittle weld and quite prone to cracking in the
weld or next to it due to poor penetration. While I have used this on method on
many items over the years, I have had instances of a weld that looked very good
from the surface give way without warning. Some of this might have been due to
my inexperience, however it could be VERY serious in a PVHO. I must refer to Dan
Lance, who is an expert on the subject, but I do not think there is a single
knowlegable welding expert who would reccomend hard wire MIG for a pressure
vessel.
I was initially planning on using the same method and changed my mind after
doing some research. Unfortunately, that is why I now own a $3,500.00 - 350 amp
welder instead of my $1,500.00 unit that I used for many years.
I'm really not trying to rain on your parade, but you did ask.
Best Regards,
Jim K
