thanks for the info. I will contact Lincoln for welding specific info on any special procedures. My local welding supply company had nothing. I have the code for pressure vessel repair which if followed should provide a good shell. By the way Frank I used to work on soda bottle vending machines. I remember the brands vendo/vendolater had vend motors that turned 6 RPM with enough torque to move the vend gates with 30 or so 10oz coke bottles stacked on them. the motors were quite small weighing about 2lbs. the integral gearbox output shaft was 90deg to the motor body making a very small package for something so powerful. i think it was a permanent magnet motor, if so an elect motor shop should be able to convert it to DC. each machine had up to 6 motors(one for each selection button).
