For those interested, Hummingbird also makes some low cost side-scan sonars.

I think they are a bit cheaper than the starfish, but IMHO the image quality
is not as good.  Also, the transducer head is hull-mounted and does not
come with a tow fish.  Although for mounting on a submarine, these seem to
be a good option.  If you are doing pre-dive surveys from a surface
vessel, I think the starfish is a better choice.

If you are really into imaging sonars (and have a lot of disposable
income), check out Blueview technologies: http://www.blueviewtech.com/.

Farsounder (www.farsounder.com) also makes some pretty cool FL imaging
sonars.
