Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Life support

Hi Cliff,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. My wife and I were gone for a bit celebarting our 35th anniversary together.

Thanks so much for the great info about maintaining a healthy breathing atmosphere.

Best Regards,

Jim K

Scott

Please read Phil Nuytten paper titled "Life Support in Small One-Atmosphere Underwater Work Systems" by Dr. Phil Nuytten, Nuytco Research Ltd. (1998).  If you need a copy of the paper, send me a email off list and I will send it to you.  This paper is very good background for anyone comming up to speed on a life support system.

I have a question about life support and internal cabin pressure. For long term life support in the the sub you put a CO2 scrubber in which transfers CO2 to Calcium Carbonate and add in pressurized oxygen. My question is when you add in pressurized oxygen how do you keep the cabin pressure to stay at 14.7 psi?
Thanks,
