In the case of a circular window seat, the "structural requirements" would be
based on a simple beam calculation, would it not?  Design for required factor of
safety for shear and bending moment, using the worst case scenario of shear area
at minimum radius of seat (i..e window bows inward and all load is on the inside
edge of the seat), and bending moment about maximum radius of seat assuming a
point load at the minimum radius.  Also consider stress concentration at the
corner (outside radius of seat).

I'll dig through my books when I get home and see if there is any relevant info.
