Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Concrete sub being delivered.

Hi guys. I hope I'm not stepping out of line here. Will is delivering a concrete sub hull here in San Francisco some time later this year. I have followed the messages posted earlier and hope I'm not letting the cat out of the bag.
This hull design/material holds a lot of interest and after contacting the new owner, was invited to come see it when it arrives. If the owner doesn't mind, I'll get some pictures and post them. The profile of these hulls is very elegant, and I find the concept of a live aboard sub very interesting. I'm not sure how long it will take to out fit the sub to completion, but reading Will's site has really sparked my imagination.
I can see this concept making sub sailing affordable to a great many people. My own small sub is purpose built for day trips to get video of sea life and geology, and as such, has a limited range and endurance. The idea of traveling the seas in a live aboard sub sounds like a real blast. I've done some sailing in Greece and the Caribbean,  but owning my own live aboard always was way out of my price range. The smaller boats at 40 feet go for $250K to start, and the one we took out in Greece was over $2 Mil. The inside of the new sub is about the same as the Grecian boat, at a fraction of the cost. The running cost appears to be much lower as well and plus you have the added benefit of going under. This sounds very exciting.
Anyway, I'll see if I can get some pictures, and who knows, maybe we'll see lots of these popping up. ( pun intended) Frank D.
