[PSUBS-MAILIST] Deepworker 2000 Hatch Lifting Means

I was looking through some new pictures I came across of the Deepworker subs in Seattle, Washington and noticed the hatch of the Deepworker 2000 has gas shocks to help lift and hold the hatch open. It is configured in almost the same way I was thinking I would do mine. The Deepworker hatch doesn't look very light. I don't know if the dome protective roll bar is aluminum or steel. I was thinking of making mine out of Chromally steel.

Here is a link for the Deepworker's design patent, with some good drawings.
