years ago I built a 5ft fiberglass radio controlled speed boat (a lot of fun) anyway
I made a mold and still have it. I was planning on 2 hulls in a cat configuration.
I would then mount the two antennas on it.

a quick connect would be made to sub at surface and tether spooled out from
surface craft. The tether would be of a break away design in case of entanglement.

How much force do you estimate needed to pull your buoy?

From looking at the equation from Doug J looks like a 500ft, length Appox to
be towed at 350' , would be substantial. even to the point of noticeable effect
on attitude underway.

I am curious on how yours performed at 33'

Yes and have you used the hummingbird sidescan yet? Seems if it works would be
a very nice inexpensive tool.
