Frank, Something to keep in mind that was learned quickly with the
first gasoline-powered submersible; the fumes from the gasoline in an enclosed
hull can quickly rise to toxic levels. The sub was almost immediately
modified to move the fuel tank outboard of the hull and when securing the
engine, it was allowed to run dry to exhaust all of the fuel from the fuel
lines. See Simon Lake’s book Submarines in War and Peace. Today, when SEALs deploy with a sub, their fuel for their
outboards are carried outboard the hull and the engines are stowed in
waterproof bags. You should give some further consideration to how you
plan on stowing your surface boat motor so that you do not end up with a severe
headache and nausea at best or kill yourself at worse. R/Jay Respectfully, Jay K. Jeffries Andros Is., Bahamas A skimmer afloat is but a submarine, so poorly built it will not
plunge. |
