Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] UC3 Roll Out

Just as a thought, if one is to pursue such a course, I believe that the best way to effect them, would be to do as the Turtle did in the USA Revolutionary war, and to "scare them out of the harbor" so to speak.  Ramming could cause your sub to sink, and torpedoing could have unforeseen effects, such as loss of human life, as well as tighter restrictions on psubs, as well as possible criminal charges for the captain and the crew of the submarine.  While I am pro environment, and would like to see whaing stopped, I do not think that the end justifies the means.  But whaling does need to stop.  Sooner than later.

As another thought, I know that closed cycle deisels, AIP, and nuclear, are not real practical for psubs.  I know that the movie, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen do use a submarine that uses solar cells to recharge the batteries.  So, I ask, why not also use solar power to charge batteries?  I would like to point out that it would be used in conjunction with diesel, to also charge the battiers, weather pending of course.

Sirs,

Harassing, ramming or torpedoing whalers is possibly quite legal. I can understand that Captain Paul Watson, Sea Shepards, claims it is
since there are UN conventions against whaling. Anybody may enforce UN conventions as the US military did in at least the first Gulf War.

If its legal by international law I am on.

I also agree that the UC3 is a magnificent boat.

I would like to point out that sinking whaling ships via submarine, seems to be something out of SeaQuest DSV.  However I do agree with the idea.

Congratulations on completing UC3 to this near complete stage. She?s a magnificent boat and well worth the effort and sacrifices you have made to bring her into being. You will have to sail her across the Atlantic for the next P-subs convention. J

If you can install a few torpedo tubes I would like to hire her to deal with some Japanese whalers that will be hunting Humpbacks this season!

Warm regards

Steve Pearce

What is the hole in the bottom of the bow for; viewport viewing, diver exit and entry, or vertical thruster tube?
