Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST]Nekton alpha

Gene--Whatever the owner told you, Alpha was never, to my knowledge, ABS certified. That dive helmet contraption did them in and Beta, Gamma and Delta were built without it in order to get certified. Vance

I went to Worcester, Ma yesterday and looked at Alpha Nekton.  It has secondary windows in the front ballast tank.  They are just as thick as the main portholes.  Interesting that it was ABS certified with some square windows in a "helmet tower" back in the 1970s.  Also had bolts thru the acrylic.  Not certifiable anymore to new standards, or without a lot of work, but was very interesting to climb over and in.  It's seen some history making dives.
