Subject: [PSUBS-MAILIST] 2007 Convention Final Notice - Please Read

If you are attending the 2007 Convention, please read this notice.

This will likely be the final communication before the PSUBS convention
August 17, 18, and 19. We wish you all a safe journey and look forward to
meeting some of you again, and some of you for the first time. We are
hoping for excellent weather (whoops...hope I didn't just jinx the weekend)
and fellowship. Although it is a bit early to count on, the extended
forecast is for partly sunny skies and daytime temps in the 80's, night
temps in the 60's. Gary Sluis and Dan Brewer are our hosts this year and
have things well under control. We thank them for all the work they have
done to get this convention organized. Here are some last minute reminders
and suggestions.

1) SCHEDULE
Please print a copy of the agenda at
http://www.psubs.org/convention/2007/agenda.html along with associated
links. This contains the most up-to-date information. The first event is
Friday morning, 8/17. Please meet in the hotel lobby between 8:30 and 9:00
am. We are planning on leaving the lobby at 9:15am to head over to Dan
Brewers business for a welding demonstration. I have ID badges for all
registered participants which I will hand out in the lobby. Non-registered
participants are still welcome, they'll just have to write their name on a
blank badge. Please wear your badge at all PSUBS events so we know who you
are (aha...so you're the guy building the cardboard sub!)

2) COMMUNICATION
We will leave contact information with the front desk of the Holiday Inn
Express. If you are late and need to know where we are, or lost and need
directions, call someone on the contact list and we will get you to where
you need to go. Remember that Saturday, we will be in the hotel conference
room for most of the day.

If you want to "convoy" with other psubbers, I suggest you contact them
individually to figure out where a common meeting place might be. A number
of people will be driving from the East coast, but there are many roads to
Michigan so coordination may prove difficult. Lansing and Grand Rapids look
like potential meeting points.

3) FOOD

a) BBQ at the dive site http://www.psubs.org/convention/2007/diving.html
Friday Noon. Hamburgers, hot-dogs, chips, soda/water is included in your
$40 registration fee. Family/friends are welcome for $6 (adult) and $3
(child). If you have a special diet, you are welcome to bring your own food
and use the grill.

b) Saturday LUNCH. If you are going to participate in the time honored
tradition of "submarine" sandwiches for lunch, go to
http://www.quiznos.com/menu.asp and write down your menu choice to have it
ready for Saturday morning. When you enter the conference room we will
collect your order AND MONEY (yes, it's pay for your own this year), and
have it delivered to us sometime around noon. You are free to coordinate
your own lunch somewhere else if you don't want anything from the Quiznos
menu. Plan on one hour for lunch.

c) Saturday DINNER. It is tradition to go out to eat after a long hard day
of talking about submarines at the PSUBS seminar. Everyone is responsible
for paying their own meal. This is not restricted to psubbers only, and
significant others, kids, or other friends/relatives are welcome to attend.
We hope you will join us this year. Gary Sluis has selected a restaurant
with a large menu selection that should fit the needs of everyone. This is
a low-key event where we just have fun and allow topics of discussion other
than submarines.

4) SUB-DIVING
Diving coordination will be finalized sometime prior to actual submersion
which begins after lunch on Friday. I expect that Gary and Dan will want to
have a meeting with sub-owners prior to diving. In the interest of safety,
we expect to have certain dive rules in place that everyone will be expected
to adhere. Also, we may require that participants sign a liability release.
If you have scuba and/or snorkel equipment and want to help out as a safety
diver, please bring your equipment. If you have a boat, kayak, or
inflatable, please bring it if you have room to transport it.

5) MISCELLANEOUS
Don't forget lawn/beach chairs, beach umbrellas, sun-tan lotion, bathing
suits, rain-gear, oh-yeah, and the kitchen sink.

That's it for now.
SEE YOU IN MICHIGAN!

Jon
