I'm interested in aesthetics as much as anything. I don't want guys having
to go around with "backward" thrusters. :-) People will say....hay man
that's mounted backwards.!
Props have a hydrodynamic shape.....if you look closely....even the trolling
motor props do have some what of an arc on their blades in one direction.
Because of this....the prop will be very efficient in one direction....and
will just partially work in another (reverse). That is why most trolling
motors pivot 360 degrees instead of having a reverse direction. A reversible
prop can be made....but it is a compromise of efficiencies.

Why does it matter? You could always mount them upside down if it was done
'the wrong way'.
But I think it's only variable pitch props that have this problem. So going
with a fixed pitch one may resolve it.
