We use also a stuff similar to dyneema for our reel
- but we never dive a midget sub to 2 knots currents.. 

Or trigger is a trough hull axis which can be turned 90 degree. 
A lever on both sides. A spring on the outside. You open the trigger with your foot against the force of the spring. So you can stop the process any time. 

If you are downed in lake in 30 feet deep it makes not much 
sences to release 300 feet of rope. And makes a diver worry which wants to go down on this rope.. 

If the bouy is on the way to the surface you can clear hear the turning reel. Otherwise make a small bell on it.. If the bouy reach the surface the reel stops. Trigger back to fix it. Thats is.
