That extra view port in the side is different (I've not see that
before). Could this be a VASH proto-type? or is it more recent
than that?

I've never seen a Kittrege type sub with a acrylic type dome hatch. I wouldn't be to surprised if there was, but I thought it was interesting none the less. It's obviously been retired, but it was cool to see. I'm going back soon to see if I can talk with the owner Don. They run a log salvage business bringing old logs up from the bottom of Lake Pend Oreille. I have more pics if people are interested in some of the design details.
