[PSUBS-MAILIST] Convention

Jon,

Assuming the gods are with me and the creek don't rise, I am planning to attend the Michigan convention. Doug has contacted me about the dive protocols and safety issues, and we will be talking quite a bit about that, and have something for the group in a reasonable time.

That said, how is the convention schedule looking? Do you have speakers lined up? I could probably lash something together from the old days, maybe a Powerpoint photo thing or even some film if I can get some old Super 8 stuff converted to digital. Give me a time limit and I can work to that, I expect. However, if you're plate is full already, that's fine, too.

And, all things being equal, I can probably go up early and help with set up or pre-dive looksee stuff for the sub guys, too. I won't be bringing a submarine this time (although it should be in the water by then) but I'll be more than happy to help those who do. The local guys probably have all this in the bag already but, if not, count me in (if somewhat tentatively this early in the game).

Alec, yes it means there is potential for overlap. In the past, there's
been considerable resistance to changing to a web-based forum by a large
number of participants here. However, there have also been calls to
create a web-forum. I imagine that sooner or later, one will win out
over the other. I personally enjoy the mailing list, but the webforum
definately has the benefit of categorizing discussions which can make
future reference of a particular topic a lot easier to locate.

One way to look at it is that if something interesting is posted in the
webforum, someone will likely provide a pointer to it just as they would
to an external site.

Jon
