RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Law and Sub

The gentleman [I assume] asked in regards to Europe, and they did find this off of Spain. I assume that something has been said about this issue, and that something must have been done about it. There’s always a first to it, and lets face it; where there’s a will, there’s a way. If someone has the urge to do ‘illegal activity’ [we’ll keep it at that for the sake of simplicity], they will. And I just assumed that there was a governing law which lists this. But I could be wrong, as usual.

A drug sub?  I know of the one that was in Columbia in 2000.  Which one hit this the news?

I think what he means is if there is a code, similar to that of aircraft, where the government has to inspect and license your craft [in aviation, either a license of experimental, commercial, private, etc].

Or, maybe the government has a strong say in what goes on because of possible illegal usage of submarines, etc? Because of recent news that a drug submarine was found, maybe this Fanta person wants to know if there is a separate division of the governments which guard this type of thing.

Personally, I see where Fanta is coming from. When you think about how dangerous this hobby is, there should be a board on this type of technology, maybe a followup from the NTSA, etc. But that’s my opinion. I’m designing a person sub, but until now, I’ve been building ROV’s… so I’ve never really researched the governmental regulations, etc, of larger subs.

I’m sure such operators as Stanley, etc, have to answer to a higher-up government official in regards to his operations, right ?

Does this e-mail strike anyone else as strange, or is it just me?
