Hi,
Looking a Gary Boucher's sub
"Vindicator", it looks like it has a stainless hatch and that the hatch
seat is also stainless. The stainless hatch seat looks
very thick , like maybe 2" thick, and it looks like it is bolted to a
flange coming up from the lower conning tower.
Looks like this could be a good way to attach a hatch since the hatch seat
could be machined first and then bolted to the flange.
