I was considering Joe's ambient design and realised that fitting his (mine in the case of Magical Child) crew will determine the cockpit's internal volume.  As a consequence, it will affect how much keel ballast is required and, to some degree, what the sub is carrying in terms of entrained water.
 
Here's a link to some trial software that allows human figure scaling and more.  
 
 
Obviously, even one-at boats could use this software.
