hmm... I didnt realize TurboCAD went 3D.  If that's the case, definitely a good idea for anyone wanting to do schematics.  I suggest 3D for obvious reasons, and then you can easily create 2D blueprints from within the software.   Be careful with some software though (like modeling progs. like Rhino, Blender, etc.) because sometimes they dont have that capability.  You dont want to be stuck creating a 3D model and have to do twice the work to get a good blueprint.

You may want to look at a inexpensive program called TurboCAD. It is available at a lot of office supply stores. (Staples, Office-max) It's not to expensive, around $80-100. Sort of like an entry level AutoCAD. They have a 2-D and a 3-D version.
