I am not particularly adept at CAD modelling, but I
found Rhino to be very useable, and have done several
models now.
I agree with others here that sometimes simpler is
better. But my personal preference is to use
the modelling software. That way if I want to
change something, I don't have to redraw the entire thing.
I merely make my change, and see how it impacts the
rest of the design. It is particularly useful for
determining clearances, and making sure things
fit!
