  Subject: [PSUBS-MAILIST] New Comers and
  Sub-Wanna-Bees

To the new guys in our house!

First off, welcome!  It's a nice place to
live.  Many of us have been living here for years.  Checking the
archives will give you only and idea of who has been here and when they moved
in, what information they have shared with others and what they have gained
from living here.  I say, only an idea of when they moved in, because
most new comers to this house of ours usually wander in, sit around
for a while and soak up what they can, which includes,
perusing the journals in our library.  Most,
then start to be heard from as they ask questions to fill in their
  gap.

We who live in this house, encourage
questions and enjoy discussions.  We do prefer a low
noise level though, as there are others in our house trying to study and
ask a question or two also.  Chatting among yourselves in
the common room isn't appreciated.  We prefer that, long winded time
consuming chats, be taken to your private
room where you can talk continuously without interruption from others,
and  without annoying others by creating noise in the rest of
the house.  If during your chatting, you have any questions, or stumble
on what you think can be a break through of our common interest, please,
by all means, feel free to join us in the common room once again to mull
  over whatever you have.

I, as a member of this house ask you to remember
three important things that will help the house in general, and help you get
  what you came here for.

ONE,   You will get out of this house
only what the body of members contributes to it.  That is, we need to
keep it a tidy pleasant house to keep the people that have
only information to share, as some don't have much more to
gain from living among us but are of great help to
  others.

  TWO,   No matter how fast,
how furiously or how loud you talk, you won't get a submarine any
faster.  It takes time to learn, time to design, time to gather the
funds, and above all time to learn the skills needed and build.  We,
living in this house for a while, have seen many come on fast, and go
just as fast.  Take it slow and gather what you need and
  desire.

THREE,   I ask you; don't anger the
landlord!  Remember we're all only tenants in this house.  The
landlord lets us live here rent free.  No one wants fighting in our
house and I for one say there are a handful of words that must never be
uttered inside these walls.  After all, the landlord lives
here among us and can hear the goings-on.  He's a generally
quiet guy, but let us remember, he passes out the front door keys and can
change the lock anytime he wants.

Again, welcome new comers.  It's what keeps
  our house going.
Thanks for your time.  Dan H.
