The US government doesnt own the seas. If
they have business with you, they can hail you on your radio or ping you
(underwater). Aside from that, do as you please. I think it works
the same way with subs as it does with military aircraft. They just have
to be de-weaponized and you perhaps may have to file a float plan - which many
boats do anyways for safety (i do every once and a while).

to one's own boat?
I've heard of the US government being concerned about these for
drug smuggling. I think some Russian engineers were involved in an
attempt or two to build a small submarine down in the mountains of
Columbia. Do you remember that?
An old Whiskey class boat does
seem potentially more capable for smuggling than some smaller tourist
sub. Kind of interesting to think about the Coast Guard looking for a
diesel sub running on snorkel.

Shipmates,
This ad suggests the sub can be used for adventure tourism or military
activity. I am not sure that is correct. I believe that to
purchase a military sub you have to moor it to a dock, cut off one
propeller to disable it, and use it either for historical (e.g. museum) or
entertainment (e.g. night club) purposes. You cannot take it out to
sea. Does anyone have definitive information on this?

Hello mike It is a nice boat but I don´t belive many people will be able to pay the fees in the marinas or not have problems with many goverments because of the military potential. It will be great to have a party on board
:-). Jürgen
