Smile. Hi Phil. It sounds like your mounties are a
bit like our sherriff deputies. But at least you can get them to make a report
so it is on record.

Then go over the mounties heads and seek whatever
canada has as a local prosecutor in your area. Call them, make an
appointment and take them

a copy of the report you made with the mounties.
Surely your country must have laws against fraud. I know we do in the
U.S.

If they want to find out from what computer address
this guy registered with e bay on that is not a problem. It can be done by
supeona of e bay records.

Here in the U.S. we make a police report (if in the
city) or a sherriff report (if in the county) and that can either be turned in
to the state attorney's office (local prosecutor)

by either the reporting officer (mountie) or by the
citizen directly filing with the state attorneys office. At that point the state
attorney (local prosecutor) decides whether a law has been broken and if it is
worth

their time to take action on it or not.

I understand your cynicism about apathetic,
unconcerned law enforcement. We have the same thing here. But you file your
report and then call and bug your prosecutor's office until

they do something. At least you can try. Nothing to
lose but some time. Question is....is it worth it to you?

Kindest Regards,

Bill Akins.

  Hi, Bill:         Thanks
for your advice re State Attorney. Fact is, I dont have one . . .a State
Attorney, that is. In fact, I don't even have a State! I guess I could go
to the RCMP, though.. Canada's not big on litigation, so the Mounties may
not take me seriously: " An' so, Mister New-teen, you say dat you build
submarines, eh? An' some person want to sell you a submarine what you 'ave
already own? But you say 'non' . . .so, den , what is it that you wish us
to do? Oh, get you a State Attorney . . . Sacre Mon, but 'av course! Dat is
the dream of ev'ry Canadien . . .but, infortune, the best we can do is to
  offer a Provincial blackboard monitor or, pr'haps, a a hockey referee . . .
Now,  careful dat dat door don' strike you on d'cul on
  d'way out. Phil
  Nuytten
