Title: solopsub sent you this eBay item: Yellow Submarine Minisub Scuba Dive Collectors Item (#7151301409)
What a neat historical 1950's navy minisub.  Dual petal powered at that! I'm susprised the Navy hasn't bought it for their museum.

Thanks for sending it Alec. I didn't think we could send pictures thru the Psub forum. I was told we had to send pics to the picture exchange

because the forum format would not let them thru. How did you get the picture thru?

Kindest Regards,
Bill Akins.

Looks like there's a two-person human powered sub on eBay. Oh my, if a tandem bicycle can strain a marriage, think of the potential in this. :) Alec

Summary
Human Powered Yellow Minisub   S.P.U. MK VII Mod F Serial 5   Local Pick-Up in Houston, TX   This auction is one of those rare opportunities to take a step on the wild side.   We believe this particular Minisub is very special.  Besides its potential utility and beautiful lines it might be a piece of history?    The Minisub was purchased as part of a large lot during a liquidation sale.  At the time of purchase the owner was given the Minisub without any documentation other than the information plate inside (please see photos).    Our research found references from the 1950?s to a Lt. Cmdr. Doug Fane who designed a prototype diver transport vehicle for the U.S. Military.  That reference called his vehicle a SPU Minisub MK VII.   We have also learned that the S.P.U. stands for Swimmer Propulsion Unit.  This item technically falls into the category of a wet submersible.  That means the Minisub is designed for use in conjunction with scuba gear and/or diving equipment.  The compartment is totally flooded and operators are sustained by their underwater breathing apparatus.   Swimmer Propulsion Units are designed to buffer divers from rough waters and quietly transport them to their destination.  The propulsion mechanisms on this Minisub are two sets of foot pedals for the driver and passenger to crank.   This item has spent its entire life with the current owner stored inside an enclosed warehouse.  The overall condition of this Minisub as a wet submersible is average.  There are numerous scratches on the hull and several of the components are in need of immediate repair or replacement.  It also appears the Minisub is missing two of its dive planes.   We think this Minisub is in excellent condition from a collector?s perspective.  It definitely has lots of character!  Creative ideas that have been offered include using the Minisub as decoration around a pool area or using the Minisub as a novelty at a restaurant, bar or retail shop.  You would probably be the first and only one on your block to own one!   Know technical specifications are as follows:   The hull is fiberglass Maximum depth is listed as 150 feet (not verified please see pictures) The overall length is approximately 13.5 feet The overall width is approximately 7.25 feet (with dive planes extended) The overall weight is unknown Rolling display cradle also included with Minisub (please see pictures) Approximately 8.25 feet long Approximately 5 feet wide Approximately 4.75 feet tall   The owner has asked that we allow the eBay Marketplace to establish this items value.  We have placed a very low reserve on this item only to cover storage costs.  The reserve is not a reflection of the items value.   We strongly urge anyone considering bidding on this item to do their own research.  If anyone finds any verifiable information that is different from the specifics in this listing we will immediately update the listing.  We also make zero claims as to the seaworthiness of this Minisub.    If the winning bidder wants to have this item shipped it will be the buyer?s responsibility to make all arrangements.  We will provide access to the Minisub and that is where our responsibility ends. Buyer Beware - this item is being sold AS-IS and where is.  Please contact us if you have any questions before bidding.  If you would like to see the Minisub please contact us to make arrangements.   Thank you for looking!  On Apr-22-05 at 12:50:28 PDT, seller added the following information:SquareTrade © AP6.0
