Thanks for checking it out, a lot of us were curious.
I drove down to Long Beach today to see Deep Quest. There was a
Swedish family living in the sub that were friends of the owners, they
spoke very little English but they knew I was coming so they let me look down
inside.
I think there is very little value for this boat as a future
submarine, unless someone wanted to put a pressure hull back inside.
The only thing left of the sub is the outside skin, which is just
1/4" steel welded into the shape you see from the outside. No left-over
equipment exists. I'm not sure how they got the pressure hulls out of
the sub, perhaps out the bottom, I didn't notice any re-welded areas where it
would have been removed. A floor has been put in so you can't see the
bottom area.
I've posted some pictures on the moki, the inside pictures didn't
come out, but there is really nothing to see except junk.
