Dear ??? in NH:
        Standard, everyday, 12 volt car batteries. Cheap like borscht,
incredible power density per pound/ per $ and high peak discharge rates. If
you use them continously, just replace them at the start of the season. If
not, take reasonable care and they will last as long as they will in a
vehicle. caps, no caps, makes little difference. We use regular caps with
vent holes. Oil floats on electrolyte. Only problem would be if sub turns
over - in which case,power is the least of your problems!
