I know the submarine pioneer Simon Lake built
submarines out of wood, but those were for shallow depths and probably out of
heavy planking
and not plywood. But there is NO WAY I would want
to go down in a wood and fiberglass sub to depths even approaching 500 feet. I
agree with you
Hugo about the lack of protection from impacts of
any kind. At depths past normal scuba depths and even at scuba depths
themselves, an impact
that breached the hull would probably prove fatal.
I wouldn't even consider wood and fiberglass for anything but a wet or half dry
sub. Sounds like
a recipe for disaster.
