Peter,
There's a guy here, out of Santa Barbara -
http://www.sbmariculture.com <http://www.sbmariculture.com/> who is
farming shell fish such as oysters, mussels, clams and scallops. I'm
not sure you would need a submarine to do this but heck - why not !
The waters off Santa Barbara are so calm it's ridiculous, The Channel
Islands protect the area from 90% of the storms. The only time it
gets really bad is when storms create themselves right in the area.
Farming the ocean is something where a lot of opportunity exists.
With the problems of over fishing, fish farming could relieve the
pressure of the growing consumption of seafood -- unless of course
you're a vegan ( they can't eat anything that has a face) do mullusks
have faces? I don't know, I know rock cod kind of look at you funny
! Anyway, farming the ocean is not with out it's problems. Here is
an artical about tuna farming down in Ensenda, Mexico.

Pilots of Deep Flight Aviator have made a point not to go inverted
with their current oil over acid battery setup.
About farming the sea: years ago it did cross my mind. I was not
considering large scale seaweed or salmon, but smaller high value
ideas - abalone maybe. That would be ranching the sea instead of
farming it I guess. I never got past the "scribble on a cocktail
napkin" stage. And you?

I don't think he is using gel batteries presently but he
could. With gel batteries one could invert the sub. With the
solid state electronics I would think you could cover it with
a thick mineral oil as long as the oil did not break down any
of the plastic components.

I thought Deep Flight was "acrobatic" and could invert.
If the batteries are oil immersed, they can't invert, can
they?

Hi Brian,
Some times distilled, ultra pure, water is used as an
insulator. Oil works, Deep Flight Aviator uses flooded
lead acid batteries with oil floating on top. But it
can be messy.
