RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Pressure relief valve?
To tell the truth I didn't remember Dobrovolsky, but a quick Google
search revealed this: "Male, Married, Two children. Born in Odessa,
Odessa, Ukraine. Cause of Death: Killed in cabin depressurization of
Soyuz 11."
I see!
I have some spare little Swagelok ball valves lying around, and they're
looking increasingly useful. I guess I'd put them in series with the
ball-and-spring. The ball and spring would prevent any significant
amount of seawater entering once the pressures were equalized. There is
of course a separate and much larger ball valve without any
ball-and-spring, for flooding the boat if I needed to do that.
Thanks,
Alec

Use a manual valve instead of ball and spring.
Remember Dobrovolsky?
