Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] BOATING AND WATER USE ACTIVITIES

I?ve been reading the posts of the last few days and started
writing a long letter regarding my experience with inept
( immature ) FAA inspectors that I?ve dealt with through the
years. But after reaching page 38 I thought it prudent to post
the Readers Digest version.  Granted, there are many old timers
( FAA Inspectors ) thrashing through the bush armed with the
genuine knowledge that it is truly the operators that maintain
aircraft safety and operational readiness.
Not the FAA as a police force, which is believed to be by the
general public what makes air transportation as reliable as it is.
The FAA along with many government agencies has in the last
decade taken the point of view, Legislate, Legislate, Legislate.
And as we?re all well aware, home land security has ushered in
a subjective and merciless grope of young Lemmings who
couldn?t pass the SAT?s.  Enough said about that, and if you think
it was nasty, you should read pages 19, 20, and 21 of the long
letter version.  However, having spent over 20 years in the
Helicopter industry I?ve worked with various law enforcement
agencies and do not recommend voluntarily jumping into their
club.  The Miranda rights are not given as a show of friendship,
they are a warning!! All in all I?ll sum up my views regarding
Law Enforcement & Government Intervention with this cute
enology.

I must say I do not believe for a second that the cops were
hiding around that corner 'because it was a particularly dangerous
stretch of road. They were hiding there because it was a big
wide smooth empty road. And
 therefore a good number of
people may take the opportunity to test their brand new speed
rated tires. This statistically, would get plenty of bookings for
the time spent with no donuts in hand. If, on the other hand it
was truly a dangerous stretch of road, they would get very few
bookings because most people would take it sensibly. The
few they did catch would be drunks or total wakos who really
are worth catching. Given the choice between booking one or
two really evil drivers, and fifteen or twenty who are simply
exceeding the limit, what are they likely to do?
Score high with the easy targets, of course.  DJB
