somewhere in the archives, Phil Nuytten, the supreme sub builder, has described
his quite simple and elegant homemade thru-hull connectors. They involve
soldering the leads on outside and inside the hull to brass threaded screws
imbedded in epoxy passing through a brass fitting housing that has internal
threads. The threads firmly secure the connector in the expoxy so that it can't
be forced out by pressure. I think he's tested them to several thousand psi. I
checked with a manufacturer of similar rated connectors and got a price of over
$500 each.
