Welcome Curtis,

Gulf cart will work just fine, they do have plenty of Horse Power for a 2
man sub.

Curiously, the best controllers for golf carts are Curtis Motor Controllers.
We use one in the Clelia sub to run a 5 hp motor and it has been pretty much
bullet proof. We've never had to replace it at all.
