Hi All,
Here is an update on my progress: I've got my hatch cover welded up but
still have some things to do on it, I'm going to try that process of
"plating" the hatch seal area with the material - inco-weld 686CPT filler metal
that the manufacturer recommended and which was originally suggested by Adam
Lawrence. If nothing else it will be an interesting experiment to see if
that is a viable alterative to a stainless steel ring (what I should have
started with in the first place). after the "plating" process then I will
machine it true and flat again. Hopefully I will be able to bring it to
the convention for inspection. I am also hoping to begin the ferro-cement
superstructure of my sub this summer, luckily I got side tracked by my
machining class since it has become evident that some changes will be necessary
as I am planning a screw arrangement (for trim ballast) that will
run the length of the sub along the bottom keel area.
Doug, can I get a stainless screw that is not a real fine thread? I think
the fine thread could have a tendency to get stiff from debris
