Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] A question on rebreathers and scrubbers
Here is the trick. I talked to Anthony Fontana (the
physicist) and he said that the equipment we produce
is ideal for measuring the quality of sofnolime or
similar products (including home made). The only real
issue is the cost of the equipment. The device is
called the Pawkit and costs around $1K. This is
obviously too steep for you average Psubber. However,
there is a steep discount that would likely be
available, and our lab could run samples (I'm not sure
what this costs.) We have another system that should
be around $300. Both of these systems are portable
handheld instruments. Anthony volunteered to run some
research on the Sofnolime and home-made or competetive
equivalents to create an isotherm for the material and
verify the valididty of the readings. If anyone has a
sample of sofnolime or equivalent they could send
Anthony, that would be great (a few ounces is plenty).
Warren.
