The reason I asked this question was, I was talking to my grandfather he is 
a mason and used to make his own motar and cement, this was done in a lime 
kiln, the kiln he use is still in working order and on the family farm... 
Doyou know of a way to test the quality of soda ash other than to expose it 
to Co2 in a sealed container. If there is a way I would like to try as the 
kiln produces about 6000 lbs of lime for about $100 can. and about a days 
labour.
