 In any case if your breathing air ( a proper term for 79%N2 and 21%O2) you are subject to a sever case of inert gas narcosis, and probably start doing some pretty stupid things. People have died at this.

Uh huh. Halfbaked already had my idea for a narced nightclub. Go into hyperbaric chamber, act dumb, sober up go home and no hangover next day. Fun fun. Yeah, kills alotta decent divers.

2atm is safe for quite a few hours, and would give a sub some forgiveness at lower depths. Frankly, so long as you keep track like a scuba diver (? program scuba dive computer for it? ), multiple ATM's would be like a thicker hull. I don't suggest cheating like this, but hey, if it's my life, right?
