Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] question about Diver Lockout.

Hi Vance,
yes I worked with Saipem, and Sub Sea Oil Services, and Micoperi. those are
all italian companies.
We operated the PC 8-2, and the PC 51. the 51 is a 50 ton sub and would hold
5 occupants,
the pilot, copilot and 3 divers. I started out with S.S.O.S. as a diver than
sat diver and diving supervisor.
In december 1977 sub copilot and pilot. Most of the times we worked in the
North Sea. The Support Ship, was DSV "CAPALONGA", and we
had the largest hyperbaric system afloat in the world on board.for this
times: 8 Chambers and 2 Diving Bells, one to starboard the other to portside.
It could hold 12 Divers in Saturation diving at the same time.
The Submersible on the stern at this point was the Perry PC 8-2, pipe line
inspection and video recording of the pipes and the mooring systems, 8 to 10
hours dives to 500 feet was common.
The owner of the Submersibles was Sub Sea Oil Services, and when they closed
down the sub was sold
to some company in Scotland, may be to Sun Sub, it is a branch of Saipem.
I still have contacts to the italians, I might find out were it whent.
Till next time, Michael W.
