RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] question about Diver Lockout.
The DLO can be vented at depth back to the original 1 atm by venting the air
to the water (long stream of bubbles.) When the DLO is venting the outside
hatch is closed, because the volume of water that is displaced by the sub,
is not changing and the air that you are venting result in a small weight
loss. The ratio of weight to the volume of water does not change
significantly. Caution must be exercised while venting the air as to not
induce the bends in the diver.

I guess I know they don't usually flood I guess I was thinking with my 8
year old brain(early sub loving) thinking it was flooding (from movies)
thanks Vance, So Carsten how will your diver lockout work? will you be
able to go from the DLO to the 1 ATM hull at depth?
Thanks,
Jeremy

enroute to the surface for 1st decompression stop, for instance. No DLOs
that I know of flood compartments (other than military). It is enormously
cumbersome compared to a gas bottle. Vance
