Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Neat ROV on Ebay...

Hi Steve

my own rov project has been 'thought about' for 6 years and it is only
recently I have started to build anything. so (only!)
3 years work, I suppose it depends on how dedicated you are. I don't work
on my own rov as much as I should, too many other interests and not enough
cash!

it looks like he's put a lot of money into this project and if the aim was
to demonstrate his ability to produce a quality vehicle then he's done that.
As for the cost, if I was the builder I think I could justify $6000. with
the company I work for, we are just starting to do some installations and it
has shocked me how the costs can mount up. it's a bit like the psubs, its
estimated the K350 sub could be build for about $15,000 but to buy one ready
made with all the labour costs built in is considerably more.
As a buyer (in the industry), it's definitely a cheaper option than what is
currently on the market but i would only buy it to evaluate the potential of
the builder (i.e. if i was thinking of employing him).

My own ROV project has a budget of about $1500 (for building costs) but i'm
sure that if i put a $cost to each hour i spend in labour then i'm sure i
would come up with something similar to this guys amount, and my project is
only based around a plastic tube

Steve
