Good advice.  I'd had bad experiences with the press before, but Armstrong
assured me this time would be different.

They wouldn't let me proof-read the article before publication (said doing
so would cost them their jobs) but I did get a chance to go over it on the
phone with FORBES "fact checker" Dirk Smiley.  Most every correction we
agreed to was omitted; everything I asked them not to do was done.

In contrast: the magazines I'm presently dealing with asked me to submit my
own story and are allowing me to proof-read the edit before printing.
