at last i have a simple design i've tried. you get a coffee can, open both sides and fill with that desicating silicate crystals (these are the little packages found in anything from vitamins bottles to electric components), seal both ends with a permeable cloth (cheese cloth is good) and on one opening mount a fan. as it sucks air though the silicate crystals sucks the water vapor out and completely dries out the air, eradicating fogged windows...  the great thing is this stuff is totally reusable. when the crystals are saturated, remove them and put them in the oven on a tray and set it at the lowest setting. check occasionally until they resume their original feel, then replace them in the can.
