Don't let low cost fool you into thinking poor quality.
Some of the best technologies out there are low cost.
I worked on IBM-ROLM CBXs ( now Siemens-ROLM )
and they ran on a legacy CPU, the Intel 8085. These CPUs
can be bought for a pittance...$2 or $3 each. There are
Intel SDKs and Motorola SDKs that can be purchased for
$300-$600 that can run small plants and factories.
Voyager has a Intel 4004CPU is programmed in COBOL
and assembler and I believe still sending signals.
Inexpensive CPUs, ICs...etc., are used in all manner of
modern equipment.
Well, that's my 2cents worth.
