Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] gauge questions

I like the digital since I can have two to four digital sensors for every one analog. That makes me feel a little more secure, knowing that for the same money I can have every system with at least one independent backup. Like you said, we trust our lives to digital sensors nearly every day of our lives. And for me it's what I know, so I would have to go out of my way to learn analog-mechanical gauges and routing. The electronics are within the reach of anyone at this point. Most of the sensor circuits can be purchased from places like Omega and Jameco for cheap, and the designs are available online if you want to do it yourself. By the way, thanks all for the feedback on the "fish finder"!

I dident realize that the digital world had evolved to equal the reliability of the analog world. But now that I think about it, we rely on it from the time we take off in an air plane till the time we land. We spend billions on resurch and development for air craft ( fly by wire ) and there's no reason we shouldint take advantage of it in our subs....Thank you, Warnn for bring it to my attention.
