Even though the metric system is more simple, the standard system actually has a very logical base. For instance: What is the lowest number you can divide into halves, thirds, and quarters, with only whole numbers? 12 (6, 4, 3) --not 10 (5, 3.3...., 2.5). This is the basis for not only our inch/foot system, but also our timekeeping itself. Seconds, minutes, hours, they are all based on twelve.
Of course, conversion within the metric system is much easier than standard.
Just my cent and a half. (no, it wasn't a full two cents)
