[PSUBS-MAILIST] Old Sub Books in Libraries

I have been reading books on submarines for close to 50 years.
I read U-BOAT 977 by Heinz Schaeffer at Fort Gulick LIbrary
(Panama Canal Zone) in 1953 at age 8.
When in Seattle in late 50s and early 60s, I read books
like Burgoyne's SUBMARINE NAVIGATION PAST AND
PRESENT (1907 pub date?).  Some years ago when I checked
their computer catalog the first volume had disappeared.
I wonder how many other books like that have been taken
out and lost and not been replaced?
I wonder if somebody has snagged SUBMARINE which
was Simon Lake's autobiography?
AIR Lakes SUBMARINE IN WAR AND PEACE (?) was still
at Seattle Public Library a few YA,
Larry Murray
