Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] BBC E-mail: Torpedo fuel to blame for Kursk loss

Glad to be of service Herve. Pick up a copy of KURSK DOWN! "The Shocking True Story of the Sinking of a Russian Nuclear Submarine" by Clyde Burleson, ISBN:0-446-61072-0. It is a paperback, copyright 2002 and is most interesting. The author had a similar work titled "THE JENNIFER PROJECT" about the CIA, the Glomar Explorer, and the Soviet Golf submarine. Burleson has some great sources to say the least. In the Kursk book, there is some speculation about what happened and it pretty well blames the torpedos. The "Shkval" super-cavitating class is thoroughly covered as well. Most of the book is from the author's government sources and when you put it all together, it makes your hair stand on end. The book contains quite a lot about Russian submersibles, their description, and use in the salvage of Kursk as well. I'm not in the book business but do think the Kursk book is of interest to all of us. Best regards, Mark Steed
