the first thought that came to my mind with this post is: HOW RETARDED, but
I read the article and it seems interesting.

Subject: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Alternative propulsion (Penguin Power!!)

Hi all,

I've seen a few ideas for submarines with fish
like propulsion things kick around here before.
But, the main difference between the robotic tuna
and this one is that the Penguin feet idea fits
in nicely with rigid body vessels (i.e. the submarine
doesn't have to flex in the middle of the hull/body
to mimic a fish like swimming motion).

Could be worth keeping an eye this technology, (p)subs
certainly wouldn't suffer from having a more efficeint
propulsion device.
