If this string of discussion is annoying most of you, just say so and I'll pipe
down.
Since many of you are sub builders, do you find USSUB's price tags legitimate?
They charge $4 mil for their 65' footer, and I think $20 million for the
Seatlle-class sub. Obviously there is an intangible "luxury tax" put on the bill.
Also, what would stop a boat manufacturer like Sea Ray from modifying their hull
designs so that they could function as shallow submersibles? If the hulls were
made of steel instead of fiberglass, could they function as subs underwater, or
are their shapes all wrong? Can fiberglass be used to build a sub? All questions I
cannot answer.
